Magnetic Particle Inspection Training Course

This three day (24 hrs.) course provides basic knowledge into how to effectively perform magnetic particle inspection.  Emphasis is placed on the properties of electricity and magnetism, understanding longitudinal and circular magnetism, use of central conductor, coil and direct magnetization equipment and the use of yokes and prods.  This course is practical in nature and utilizes classroom participation.

Course Objectives

This course will:

  • Provide the necessary classroom training hours for both Level I and II certification in accordance with SNT-TC-1A and ANSI/ASNT CP-189 requirements.

  • Provide knowledge of various methods of longitudinal and circular magnetization.

  • Provide knowledge to evaluate effectiveness of magnetic particle technique.

  • Prepare the candidate for Level I and II examinations.

  • Discuss and apply code and standards acceptance criteria.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for NDT technicians, welding inspectors, auditors, supervisors, managers, engineers, quality assurance/quality control personnel, and others who desire to improve their skills in this area.

Course Notes

All attendees will be provided with relative technical notes and associated reference materials.
